The ethics of consent

Informed consent should be the cornerstone to any healthy interaction. This includes all people, at all times. If you were to be in the room with someone and asked them if they want tea, and they said no, and then tried to put the tea into their face anyway, that would not be appropriate. No matter the status of another person, informed consent is important. And status of a person can influence their ability to consent. If a person were impaired by alcohol, or drugs, or even high on endorphins from their own experience: they are not able to fully consent, as their judgement is impaired. So informing possibilities and having non-coercive discussions that open up consent are very important.
